In Massa Marittima, a Baroque dialogue between trumpet, violin and organ.
On Saturday 30 May, the Santa Cecilia Museum Foundation presents the second event of the season featuring the Collegium trio ‘In Harmonia Salus’. A musical journey through the courts of Italy and England.
The ‘Classica al Museo’ 2026 series, the concert cycle curated by the Fondazione Museo Santa Cecilia, continues successfully. The second event of the season, scheduled for Saturday 30 May at 6.00 pm, promises to transform the museum into an exceptional stage for a one-of-a-kind event: ‘Della Tromba col Violino et Organo Insieme’.
The concert explores a magical moment in the history of music: the dawn of the solo trumpet. Originally a military signalling instrument and a symbol of courtly prestige, the trumpet underwent an extraordinary metamorphosis in the 17th century, learning to ‘sing’ and converse on equal terms with string and keyboard instruments.
Accompanying the audience on this journey into the heart of the Baroque will be the Collegium trio ‘In Harmonia Salus’ (Francesco Gibellini, Baroque trumpet; Clara Fanticini, Baroque violin; Michele Gaddi, organ and harpsichord). Thanks to the use of period instruments, the ensemble will recreate the authentic sounds, colours and fascinating dynamics of the 17th and 18th centuries, offering a performance that is both historically accurate and deeply moving.
