On Saturday, May 17th, at 4:00 PM, the performance of the Coro Polifonico di Santa Barbara will take place at the Church of Sant’Agostino. The complete program will be announced shortly.
The Coro Polifonico Minatori di Santa Barbara di Massa Marittima was founded in 1952 as a miners’ choir and is deeply rooted in the local musical tradition. Under the direction of Don Omero Martini, the founder and first conductor, the choir specialized in polyphony, including classical, ancient, and modern music, as well as folk and folkloric music.
After the death of Don Omero Martini in 1981, the leadership was taken over by Maestro Maurizio Morgantini, his student.
